Come home to the Hill for Homecoming 2019

Posted on Friday, October 11, 2019

The Panther Marching Band is ready to play the football team to victory.

The weather is finally feeling like fall – just in time for Homecoming 2019

A full slate of events is set for Oct. 18-20, with activities kicking off Friday morning with an open house at Suber Archives in Lewis Library that will feature old student scrapbooks, Quadrangles dating back to 1914, an 1880 commencement dress and a portion of the Smith Tapestry.

Later that afternoon, Grammy Award- winning music producer David Harris ’08 (Swagg R’Celious) will be on the library plaza to perform with LC students and offer them feedback on their work. Musicians must register ahead of time, but the event is open to the public.

Alumni and friends will have the chance to raise a glass to the Panthers during the Homecoming Flashback Friday Party at Overlook Plaza at Wild Leap Brew Co.

“The brew masters at Wild Leap have created a special beer just for us,” said Martha Pirkle, Director of Alumni and Community Relations. “Panther Pale Ale will be available that weekend only, while it lasts, and we will be offering commemorative mugs to hold your beverage of choice.”

For $10, guests will be able to purchase a mug and a ticket to be used Friday night inside Wild Leap for their drink.

“What’s exciting about this offer is that $5 from each purchase will go toward the LaGrange College Fund,” Pirkle said. “You get a great mug to take home while also helping our students. It’s a win-win.”

Live music will fill the plaza throughout the evening. Musicians will include Stoney Dennis ’07, 5-6 p.m.; Mr. Terrific (featuring alums Perrin Alford ’86, Peter Alford ’85, Rodney Nunis and Bryant Pippin, 6:30-8 p.m.; and Southside of the Tracks, 8:30-11 p.m.
